Jemma Byrne Headshot

Jemma works as the Bereavement Support Service Psychologist. Jemma joined Beatson Cancer Charity when the Bereavement Support service first launched in October 2022. Jemma has nearly 8 years experience of working in cancer care, palliative care and bereavement support across both NHS and charity sector. Jemma is a HCPC registered Health Psychologist and takes a highly person-centred approach to supporting individuals bereaved by cancer. Jemma appreciates that it can take great courage to reach out for support. She therefore recognises the importance of ensuring people have a warm and safe space to talk about their grief and about their significant person both in a one-to-one and group setting. Her favourite part of her role is supporting people to live alongside their grief and is especially grateful that people are willing to share and to talk with her about their significant person and what they are experiencing.

Outside of work, Jemma keeps herself busy with her love of film and television where she can usually be overheard talking about the latest bingeworthy TV show. She also loves a chat and tries to keep active through running and walk and talks with a pal and a coffee in hand.
