Baker extraordinaire James Morton has been unveiled as an ambassador for the Beatson Cancer Charity. The Great British Bake Off star and Glasgow University medical student has seen first-hand the inspiring work that the charity funds at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre where his mother has received treatment.
James visited patients and staff at the Beatson Cancer Charity’s wellbeing centre which offers a relaxing haven for patients undergoing treatment at the hospital. As well as sharing some baking tips he brought along a host of tasty treats.
James said: “As a medical student I am only too aware of the impact cancer has in Scotland and this is amplified when someone close to you is diagnosed. It is then that you really appreciate the phenomenal care offered at the Beatson.
“I am so proud to be an ambassador for the Beatson Cancer Charity and support its invaluable work in any way I can. The wealth of services and staff it supports are vital for patients, from cutting edge equipment to giving them a place to relax with a cup of tea and a friendly face.”

Through personal experience he knows the difference that the Beatson Cancer Charity and its fundraising efforts can make to patients during what is such a difficult time.
