The current Miss Scotland, Ellie McKeating, has been unveiled as the latest famous face to take on the role of ambassador for Beatson Cancer Charity.
The stunning model already has close ties to the charity as her mum Tracey McKeating, works as a centre assistant at its wellbeing centre within the Beatson. Ellie visited patients and staff, including her mum, at the centre which offers patients a haven away from the wards. It provides a range of complementary therapeutic treatments such as reiki, reflexology and massages as well as a place to read a newspaper, watch TV, or simply enjoy a fresh coffee admiring the views over Glasgow.
Talking about her new role Ellie said: “It has been overwhelming to see the support and care provided to the patients by Beatson Cancer Charity especially at the wellbeing centre. I know from speaking with my mum how important the facility is to the patients and how it makes their day that bit more bearable but it has been very special to see it for myself.
“I am extremely proud to be an ambassador for the charity and I want to do as much as I can to help hit fundraising targets. Sadly cancer affects so many families in Scotland but Beatson Cancer Charity is completely committed to the fight against the disease."
The services offered by the centre help patients to relax and provide relief from pain, insomnia, nausea, phobia and anxiety. They are currently being expanded to further support patients and families in wards and departments throughout the Beatson.

As the leading centre for non-surgical cancer care in Scotland, the Beatson serves around 50 per cent of the Scottish population. It is the UK’s busiest cancer care centre, which sees more than 8,000 new patients every year and delivers more than 25,000 courses of chemotherapy and 6,500 courses of radiotherapy.
Beatson Cancer Charity is determined to beat cancer and by fighting on all fronts it supports and enhances the treatment, care and wellbeing of those affected by cancer.
Funds raised will help to provide a comprehensive range of high quality patient and family support services and fund specialist staff posts including specialist nursing, radiography and research based staff as well as service developments, enhanced medical equipment and innovative research and education.
