We are delighted that Mackintosh & Wylie LLP, has announced its nominated charity for 2016 will be Beatson Cancer Charity.
Beatson Cancer Charity is committed to supporting and enhancing the treatment, care and wellbeing of current, former and future cancer patients and their families. As well as funding specialist nursing, radiography and research based staff that would not otherwise be in post, advanced medical equipment and novel research projects, the charity provides a comprehensive range of complementary therapy services delivered by charity staff and volunteers through the unique and award-winning Wellbeing Centre and throughout The Beatson Cancer Centre and related facilities across the west of Scotland.
There are few families in the West of Scotland who have not had members who were patients at The Beatson. Several members of staff at the lawyers speak very highly of the outstanding care provided for close relatives there and the firm says it is very proud to be supporting such an excellent charity.
Like last year, the lawyers are donating 10% of all fees generated from the professional preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney throughout the whole of 2016. In addition to the funds raised from professional fees, the firm is committed to taking on some challenges throughout the year to raise additional funds. A team from Mackintosh & Wylie will be entered in the Kilmarnock 10K “Roon the Toon” race, and the firm will be supporting the Big Beatson Bake Off in October 2016.
Joyce Ross, Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager, at Beatson Cancer Charity commented: “We are so grateful to Mackintosh & Wylie LLP for choosing Beatson Cancer Charity as its official charity for 2016.
“Alarmingly, more than one in three people are affected by cancer in the West of Scotland - the highest cancer rate in Europe. As technology advances and new treatments are developed, the demands on cancer services continue to grow so this truly fantastic level of support is so vital in helping us to continue to provide funding and services to enhance the wonderful care thousands of patients receive at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre each year.
“On behalf of everyone at Beatson Cancer Charity, I’d like to give my sincere thanks to everyone at Mackintosh & Wylie LLP. All money raised will go a very long way in the fight against cancer, now and in the future and for that we are truly thankful.”
