Over 2000 supporters took to the streets of Glasgow’s West End today to mark the fifth anniversary of Beatson Cancer Charity’s OffThe Beatson Track.
The 10k walk, which started and finished at Glasgow’s Riverside Museum, has seen over 9000 people take part over the past five years. Hosting the event for the second-year running were STV presenters Laura Boyd and David Farrell, who joined the thousands of participants to show their support for the charity’s main event of the year.
Glasgow’s Zumba Sisters were also back for another year to get the crowds in the mood and warmed up before their walk.
Off The Beatson Track is an amazing event and you realise how Beatson Cancer Charity has benefited so many people across Scotland. “It’s there for patients, carers or relatives of someone going through cancer. I will be forever grateful that such an amazing facility is on my doorstep. “I was diagnosed in September 2009 and, from that moment on, The Beatson and Beatson Cancer Charity became massive parts of my life. “I never realised before that so much of the funding for services at The Beatson is raised by Beatson Cancer Charity. For me it was a no-brainer to get involved and do what I can to help.

The fully accessible six-and-a-half-mile walk took in the iconic sights of Glasgow’s West End, including the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, which the charity raises money to support.
Participants also met the charity’s mascot, Bella Beatson, along the way, who was celebrating her second birthday.
All funds raised from the event will go towards transforming the way cancer care is funded and delivered. Beatson Cancer Charity provides services, as well as funding specialists, research and education to invest in a better future for cancer patients and their families.
