Throughout this uncertain time we have been blown away by the drive and enthusiasm of our volunteers. Today, we're getting to know Anna Best who has been a part of the team supporting staff and patients directly at The Beatson, providing hand sanitiser at the entrances of the hospital.
I decided to sign up to volunteer during COVID-19 as I wanted to do something to help during this difficult time and support the NHS as much as possible.
I have been keeping busy at home by trying different baking recipes, reading books and catching up on Netflix. I have also been taking my dog out for walks.
I have been keeping in touch with family and friends over the phone and Facetime. We have been organising quizzes and games virtually which are a lot of fun.
A Harry Potter movie marathon is always a great idea!
I have downloaded the Couch to 5K app to try and improve my fitness. You have to complete three runs a week, however it is good for beginners as you build up to running for a longer time.
My favourite type of biscuit is shortbread.
I am enjoying spending more time with my family and having more time to read and watch films.
I am missing my gran the most, but I have been speaking to her over the phone.
I am looking forward to seeing my friends and other family members.
Thank you so much to the amazing NHS staff and key workers who are doing their best at this difficult time. You’re doing a great job and we can’t thank you enough!
Thank you for your time Anna and for all the wonderful volunteer work you're doing!
