We are delighted to announce £47,158.46 has been raised for Beatson Cancer Charity during the Kiltwalk in September 2021.
This would not have been possible without the fantastic people who took part on behalf of our charity, and also The Hunter Foundation and The Kiltwalk who have added a massive 100% onto the money raised!
93 people took part in the walk for Beatson Cancer Charity, with 82 participating in the ‘mighty stride’ - which started at Glasgow Green and ended at Meadow Leisure Centre in Dumbarton, covering a huge 16.5 miles.
11 people participated in the ‘wee wander’ - a 3.5 mile route from Glasgow Green to the Riverside Museum.
17 different teams completed the walks – including our very own Beatson Warriors who raised an amazing £4888.
Our volunteer engagement officer Paul Sheerin, who is part of the Beatson Warriors, has now raised an incredible £88,968.43 in the last eight years completing the walk.
Paul Sheerin, volunteer engagement officer for Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “The Kiltwalk has become a firm favourite of mine since completing all five back in 2019 as part of my #13FundraisersIn12Months challenge. This is a part of my ongoing fundraising after being a patient at the hospital eight years ago.
“I enjoy it so much because I love walking and it helps me with my fitness, it brings our team #BeatsonWarriors together and most importantly it raises vital funds for Beatson Cancer Charity.
“Sir Tom Hunter announced that he was adding a further 100% to all totals raised at this year’s Kiltwalk. I am absolutely delighted, as it means the charity is getting £4888. My total raised in 8 years of doing various fundraisers is now sitting at £88,968.43.”
Massive well done to everyone who got involved this year! We can't wait to see you all back again next year!
