Participants of the Edinburgh Marathon, which took place at the end of May, raised over £40,000 for Beatson Cancer Charity.
75 people taking part in the event between Saturday 28-Sunday 29th May supported our charity – 42 of them completed the full marathon.
The oldest runner for Beatson Cancer Charity was a 50-year old woman, who ran the full marathon. The youngest runners were two 18 year olds who did full marathon.
The fastest marathon time for Beatson Cancer Charity was 03:11:58 – with an overall average time of 05:31:00.
The event became the biggest sports participation event in Scottish history, after 40,000 people took part.
The running festival featured eleven races including a marathon, half marathon, team relay, 10k and 5k, plus six junior events.
Mary Berry from the Great British Bake Off was the Official Starter for the event.
£41,780 was raised for our charity on the day, which will go towards supporting cancer patients and their families.

“It surpassed all expectations and we couldn’t be more delighted at this incredible outcome.
“The money raised from this event helps us to further develop our services and support more cancer patients and their families in the future.”
