As a result of generous donations from the charity’s 2024 Burns Supper event, a £28,900 grant was awarded for installing 20 Airglove thermal vasodilatory devices within the Beatson hospital and Beatson satellite hospitals across Glasgow to improve cannulation procedures.

Airglove was designed for patients receiving chemotherapy whose veins are often damaged, collapsed and hidden which can make it difficult to successfully insert a canula for treatment.

Airglove helps to widen the patient’s veins by gently heating up the arm consistently using warm air and a single use double walled polythene glove. This approach increases the chances of a first-time cannulation and helps to reduce patient discomfort.
