Beatson Cancer Charity is proud to be launching its Bauble Appeal this Christmas, ensuring more cancer patients and their families across the west of Scotland receive the support they need.
Kirstie Storrie, a 43-year old from Baillieston, Glasgow, is celebrating 10 years cancer-free after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Her story is an inspiring one.
Kirstie’s relationship with Beatson Cancer Charity continues to be strong, as she remains involved in their work, particularly through raising awareness and funds.
In addition to her personal milestone, Kirstie has been a advocate for others facing cancer. She supported her mother through breast and ovarian cancer diagnoses and the loss of her sister-in-law, Jordanna, to ovarian cancer.
To mark her 10-year milestone, Kirstie participated in the Great Scottish Run's 10k, raising funds for Beatson Cancer Charity. Her personal journey has motivated her to give back to the charity that helped her, and she continues to inspire others.

Kirstie’s story is a special part of Beatson Cancer Charity’s 10th anniversary celebrations this year. She encourages people to support the Bauble Appeal this Christmas, to help others who are going through cancer treatment.
Kirstie said: "11 years ago I found a lump on my neck. I then had an operation to remove the lump and half of my thyroid out.
"Once the doctors discovered it was cancer, I then had a second operation to remove my thyroid fully and received my treatment at The Beatson."
She added: "The Beatson Cancer Charity have most recently supported, my mum. Over the last year, my mum was diagnosed with ovarian and breast cancer.
"My sister-in-law was also diagnosed with ovarian cancer a couple of years ago. She had fundraised for the charity because she was helped by them as well.
"Unfortunately, she was only 28 when she passed away in March.
"Beatson Cancer Charity have had an impact on my life significantly over the years. When I counted through my family members, there is myself, my gran, papa, have all been helped. But, most recently my mum, sister-in-law and a few friends. So, I have visited many people in The Beatson.
"They have been a constant in my life, even before my diagnosis."

Kirstie also said: "If I had to describe Beatson Cancer Charity, I would say hopeful, encouraging and supportive."

Everyone who donates will receive two baubles in the post – one to hang on their own tree at home, and one to send back to be hung on the Beatson tree.
