Beatson Cancer Charity is thrilled to have PREAH Building Services Limited as one of the first corporate teams to take part in the brand-new Kelpies Experience on Friday, 21st February 2025!

The Kelpies Experience gives participants the chance to see the famous sculptures like never before – climbing inside these incredible structures before taking on a thrilling abseil, or Quick Flight rope drop back down. It’s a one-of-a-kind adventure, all while raising funds to support people facing cancer.

They’ll be joined by over 50 participants taking on the challenge throughout the day, making it an unforgettable way to support Beatson Cancer Charity.

This exciting event also brings Beatson Cancer Charity’s 10th birthday year to a close in a spectacular way. To mark the occasion, The Kelpies, The Falkirk Wheel, and Stockingfield Bridge will all be lit up yellow in honour of the charity and the people it supports.

For Amber Thomson, Finance Assistant at PREAH Building Services Limited, taking part in the Kelpies Experience is not just about the challenge – it’s about making a difference.

"I signed up straight away when I heard about it! I love doing things like this, but what really struck me was how many people I know who have been affected by cancer. When I started sharing the fundraising link, so many people reached out to tell me their own experiences and thank me for taking part – it made me realise just how important this charity is. One of the women I know had treatment through Beatson Cancer Charity, and she couldn’t praise them enough. It’s incredible to be able to support something that means so much to so many people."

Cameron Dougan, Estimating Manager at PREAH Building Services Limited, is ready to take on the challenge – and is feeling confident about his chances.

"It should be a brilliant experience, and I think there might be a bit of competition between us to see who can do it the quickest! But at the end of the day, we’re all here to raise money for an incredible cause. I don’t have a personal connection to Beatson Cancer Charity, but I know how much it helps people going through cancer, and that’s reason enough to get involved."

For Mark Russell, Contracts Manager at PREAH Building Services Limited, the Kelpies Experience is particularly special.

"I’m local to the area, so I’ve been visiting The Kelpies for years – walking my dog there, taking my kids down to see them. My daughter actually got to go inside them when she was at school, and I remember thinking how amazing that was. Now, I finally get my chance! It’s an incredible opportunity to experience such an iconic landmark in a totally unique way while supporting a charity that does such fantastic work."

Morgan O’Neil, Helpdesk Administrator at PREAH Building Services Limited, is eager to take part and feels the event holds deep personal significance.

"I'm definitely looking forward to the Kelpies Challenge! It's going to be so much fun, and it’s amazing to be part of such a big event for the first time. For me, raising money for Beatson Cancer Charity is especially important because my family has been directly affected by cancer. I lost a close family member to cancer, and I’ve seen how the charity has helped my family cope, especially through their bereavement support services. They made such a difference, and it’s a cause I’m proud to raise money for."

Charlene Low, Regional Fundraising Manager at Beatson Cancer Charity, said:
"We’re so excited to be one of the first charities taking part in the Kelpies Experience, and we’re incredibly grateful to PREAH Building Services Limited for leading the way as one of our first corporate teams. It’s wonderful to see so many other teams joining the challenge as well – together, we’re creating something truly special. This is such a unique opportunity to see the Kelpies from a whole new perspective while raising vital funds for patients and families facing cancer. We can’t wait to see Team PREAH and all the other teams take on the challenge!"

Ross McMillan, Head of Destinations at Scottish Canals said: "We have created a truly memorable experience, and we are delighted to have the Beatson Cancer Charity with us today as they mark our first charity group to undertake this exhilarating challenge. We've had a fantastic response since we unveiled the experience just a few months ago and we look forward to working with many more charities as we continue to help them to raise awareness, funds and plenty of smiles along the way."
